【港铁地震】黄唯铭首开腔：政治环境艰难　不能做专业工程师

港铁沙中线丑闻持续发酵，五名港铁高层相继离职或提早退休，包括已辞职的港铁工程总监黄唯铭。黄本身亦是现任香港工程师学会会长，黄唯铭今日(8日)下午向学会会员发出电邮，指如果没有认真考虑，是不会轻易作出辞去港铁一职的决定，但过去两月在极度艰难的政治气候下，令他未能做到一个专业工程师的工作。

政府昨日指，港铁月前提交的相关工程图则与获屋宇署所批有严重偏差，批评港铁工程团队有不可推卸的责任，要求立即解除相关工程管理人员的职务。港铁其后宣布重组管理团队，工程总监黄唯铭及三名沙中线总经理级人员即时离职，行政总裁梁国权则提早退休。

《香港01》获得黄唯铭向工程师学会会员发出的电邮，指大家从新闻报道都知道他已辞去港铁一职，并指若没有认真考虑，是不会轻易作出辞去港铁一职的决定，但过去两月在极度艰难的政治气候下，令他未能做到一个专业工程师。

黄唯铭卷入沙中线丑闻，早前有立法会议员质疑黄是否仍能胜任工程师学会会长一职。黄在电邮中指，现时会以工程师身份投放更多时间参与社区事务，并致力做好今届学会会长。工程师学会傍晚发出补充资料，指黄唯铭会长已致函所有学会会员，在他向港铁辞职后将会全身投入会务事宜。

Dear Members,
I should have sent you this belated message earlier, however, I had a few urgent matters to handle this morning.
As you learnt from the news reports yesterday, I had resigned from MTR. The decision was not taken lightly without serious consideration but after more than two months in handling the site issues under an extremely difficult political environment, I found that I could no longer perform as what a professional engineer should be in my daily job.
My duty in the HKIE has always been divided from my daily job and now I am pleased to spend more time as an engineer in the community and more importantly, being able to contribute to the HKIE as the President of Session 2018/2019 with our executives and the Council.
I look forward to your continued support to the HKIE as a whole.
